Percy Jackson & the Olympians Reveal Tyson in Season 2 Teaser

The world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is expanding once again, and fans are in for a thrilling ride. At D23, Disney offered up a teaser for their upcoming new season named after Rick Riordan’s beloved second book in the series, The Sea of Monsters. They also used this small teaser as an announcement that they have officially started production, much to the excitement of the viewers who enjoyed Percy Jackson’s adventures in Season 1.

The sneak peek (you can watch it above) shows Percy in a blue chariot, drawn by two powerful white horses, and he seems to be preparing to joust. It’s very exciting and very dangerous. Though the teaser was short, it communicates right away the high-stakes adventure that fans are in for with The Sea of Monsters. The teaser hinted that Percy’s battles with harpies, monsters, and gods are far from over. In a voiceover, Percy says,

Last year, I had to stop a war, but that was just the beginning.

Tyson: Half-Blood, Half-Brother, One Eye

Returning alongside Walker Scobell as Percy are Leah Sava as Annabeth and Aryan Simhadri as Grover. However, one of the most exciting new tidbits of information was the introduction of Tyson, Percy’s half brother and a cyclops who will play a significant role in the new season. Tyson will be played by Daniel Diemer, known for his roles in Netflix’s The Midnight Club and Hulu’s Under the Bridge. The character, described as shy, awkward, and endearing, is a fan favorite from the book series. At San Diego Comic-Con, author Rick Riordan gave his seal of approval to Diemer’s casting, saying,

Daniel Diemer’s enthusiasm and talent brings a whole new dimension to Tyson, and it’s going to be incredible to see him in the second season. I can’t wait for you guys to meet him and welcome him to the Percy Jackson universe.

Also at SDCC, Diemer himself said (via Deadline): “I’m thrilled and honored to step into the extraordinary universe of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Now, I’ve been a fan of the books since I was 10 years old, and it’s a dream come true to be a part of this and embark on such an exciting adventure with such talented cast and crew and, of course, passionate fans. I can’t wait to bring Tyson to life and to share his journey with you all.”
