Jenna Ortega Addresses Possible Dance Scene Sequel in Wednesday Season 2

Jenna Ortega Addresses Possible Dance Scene Sequel in Wednesday Season 2

Wednesday Season 2 brings the show’s incredible cast, characters, and sets back for a second time, but the new season might be leaving the show’s most viral moment behind. Starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Season 1 shipped the titular heroine off to Nevermore Academy, a safe school for “outcasts.” While Wednesday tries to solve a series of mysterious murders, she is forced to endure the more mundane aspects of school life, including a Halloween dance. The scene gave the world the famous Wednesday dance, set to “Goo Goo Muck” by The Cramps, which quickly became a trend on social media.

During an interview with Extra TV about her starring role in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Ortega was asked if Season 2 will feature a similar dance scene. The actress said that she’s already shot four episodes of the new season, and, so far, hasn’t been forced to dance again on camera. While Ortega said it is unlikely that Season 2 will have another dance scene, she kept fans’ hopes alive by hinting that it could still appear in the back half of Season 2. Ortega said:

“Not that I’m aware of. I’m not looking ahead at the schedule, but I fear that maybe I’ll see something.”

Production is currently underway on Wednesday Season 2, with shooting ongoing in Ireland. The full cast list for Season 2 hasn’t been officially confirmed, but it is expected that Season 1’s core characters, including Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzman) will all return for Season 2. The show’s second season also introduces some new faces to the Wednesday universe. Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Haley Joel Osment, Joanna Lumley, Frances O’Connor, and Thandiwe Newton are all set to appear in the new season. Most surprisingly, Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in the beloved The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993), is making a guest star appearance in Wednesday‘s second season.

Wednesday, Burton’s first foray into TV, helped the beloved director fall back in love with filmmaking. The director said he’d fallen out of love with the industry, and had considered retirement on numerous occasions. However, when he worked on Netflix’s Wednesday, the passion he once felt came flooding back. He explained:

“Wednesday reconnected me to why I like making things. It was like shooting a movie on a TV schedule. It was quick. It was invigorating. We were not out to make a sequel. This was before franchises were talked about. The first time I ever heard that word, by the way, was on Batman Returns. I remember first hearing it and I just got a cold chill down my spine.”
