John Wick: Chapter 4 star Donnie Yen once again demonstrates his particular set of skills in the newly released teaser for his upcoming action thriller, The Prosecutor. Though the footage may be brief, it is surely more than enough to entice action movie fans as Yen throws punches, kicks, and courtroom objections in this tale of a prosecutor who decides to take the law into his own hands.

While it may be short, this first look at The Prosecutor is undeniably sweet, as Donnie Yen proves once again why he is one of the best names in the action game. Reportedly based on a true case in Hong Kong, the movie finds Yen leading the way as a dedicated prosecutor who risks life and limb to free a wrongfully charged young man and slowly uncovering a conspiracy as he cracks heads. Donnie Yen both stars in and directs The Prosecutor (which was previously titled Misjudgement) alongside filmmaker Ho-Pong Mak (Endless Battle). The rest of the cast includes Frances Ng (Infernal Affairs II), Kent Cheng (Ip Man 3), Julian Cheung (The Grandmaster, Modern Dynasty), and Adam Pak (A Guilty Conscience).
The Prosecutor
has not yet been given a release date, but is expected to debut this year. Here’s hoping a longer trailer showing off more of Yen’s talents is unleashed soon.
Donnie Yen Is All Set To Lead His Own John Wick Spinoff
Known for the likes of the Ip Man franchise, Hero, Iron Monkey, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Raging Fire, and more, Donnie Yen recently stole the show in the action epic John Wick: Chapter 4. Yen’s character, the blind assassin Caine, has proven to be such a fan-favorite that a spinoff project is now in the works.
After such a positive reaction from fans, it was confirmed that the martial arts and action superstar will reprise the role of Caine in an upcoming spinoff. Adam Fogelson of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group said at the time that the character and Yen’s performance had “captivated audiences and created an authentic, emotional connection that left an inedible mark and had fans asking for more.” Yen, meanwhile, cannot wait to return to the world of John Wick.
“Working on John Wick: Chapter 4 was an extraordinary experience,” Yen said in a statement. “The reason these films resonate so deeply is because, like myself, Chad, Basil and Erica push themselves to create action, fights and stunts that are not only thrilling, inventive and artistic, but also expressive of character, story and emotion. Caine is an incredible character with a haunted past, and I am excited to return to the role.”
The Caine spinoff will shoot in Hong Kong next year, and “will continue Yen’s story arc following the events of Chapter 4, as Caine has been freed from his obligations to the High Table.”
