Power Book IV Cast & Character Guide


Created by Robert Munic, Power Book IV: Force is the third TV spin-off in the Power universe. Set after the events depicted in the acclaimed Starz original crime drama, the story concerns Tommy Egan, the best friend and business partner of series one protagonist, James St. Patrick, aka Ghost (Omari Hardwick). As James attempts to overcome his drug conviction and distance himself from his past, he is forced to relocate from New York to Chicago and attempts to establish himself in a new city.




With Power Book IV: Force Season 2 wrapping in November 2023 and Starz recently renewing Season 3 for an anticipated 2025 release, now is an ideal time to get familiar with the cast of characters in the acclaimed crime drama. While some well-known characters from the Power universe crossover in the spin-off, Book IV also boasts a new crop of characters that fans of the series will meet for the first time.


Joseph Sikora as Tommy Egan

Joseph Sikora plays Tommy Egan in Power Book IV: Force. Introduced in Season 1 of the acclaimed Starz Original dramaPower, Tommy is Ghost’s best friend and loyal business partner. In Power Book II: Ghost, Tommy is framed for Ghost’s murder by Ghost’s mother, Tasha. Following his absence in Power Book II: Raising Kanan, Egan takes center stage as the protagonist in Force, relocating from New York to Chicago to set up a new drug empire while escaping his past sins. Of course, old haunts catch up with Tommy wherever he goes.

Sikora is a Chicago native and talented actor who began his career in the ’80s as a child performer. While Tommy Egan represents his most substantial character to date, Egan notably starred in Ozark, True Detective, Maniac, and Boardwalk Empire. Egan’s prominent movie credits include Jack Reacher, the remake of Jacob’s Ladder, and Fear.

Isaac Keys as Diamond

Portrayed by Isaac Keys, Diamond is the leader of the Chicago Brothers Incorporated (CBI), a powerful gang of drug dealers who run the city like a business. When Diamond learns Tommy saved his younger brother Jenard’s life, he forms an allegiance with Tommy and the two begin taking over Chicago together. Despite being responsible for murdering several gang rivals, Diamond is loyal to the one he loves most.

With over 20 credits amassed since 2012, Keys has appeared in everything from Jurassic World and Constantine to Supergirl, Criminal Minds, Beyond the Lights, The Player, and Lucifer. Keys hit his stride in 2018 by playing recurring characters in The Oath, The Rookie, and Get Shorty. Following Force, Keys is scheduled to appear in the upcoming TV series The Secret Closet.

Kris D. Lofton as Jenard Sampson

Played by Kris D. Lofton, Jenard Sampson is the younger brother of Diamond in Force. The two siblings took different paths when Diamond was given a 15-year jail sentence and Jenard was accepted to Brown University. However, Jenard forgoes his academic career to become the CEO of one of the most powerful drug empires in Chicago. In Force, Jenard becomes one of Tommy’s main antagonists.

While Force marks Lofton’s longest recurring character thus far, he notably starred in such projects as Shameless, Snowfall, Empire, Get Shorty, Chicago Fire, and more. Following Force, Lofton is poised to star opposite Joe Budden in the upcoming legal drama Cases. With such a brief but potent resume, Lofton is sure to star in more projects in time.

Tommy Flanagan as Walter Flynn

Depicted by Tommy Flanagan in the underrated gangster TV show, Walter Flynn is a ruthless drug kingpin who rules Chicago’s criminal underworld. Along with his children, the Flynn family becomes the number one enemy of Tommy Egan and Diamond and is willing to stop at nothing to maintain control of the Chicago drug trade. Secluded in his lakeside mansion pining about better days, Flynn lives by an honorable code of conduct that he tries to instill in his children.


Flanagan is an accomplished Scottish actor with over 70 big and small screen credits. While perhaps best known for playing Chibs in Sons of Anarchy and Tulk in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Flanagan has appeared in some of the best period movies on record, including Braveheart and Gladiator. With appearances in Ratcatcher, Sin City, Smokin’ Aces, Alien Vs. Predator, and more, Flanagan has one of the most impressive resumes of any Force cast member.

Lili Simmons as Claudia Flynn

Played by Lili Simmons, Claudia “Claud” Flynn is the daughter of Chicago drug lord Walter Flynn. In Season 1 of Force, Claud is seen as an intelligent antihero unwilling to wait for her father’s instructions. By Season 2, Claud becomes Tommy and Diamond’s biggest enemy as she continues to climb the ranks of her family empire and outwit the male-dominated underworld. Brilliant but blunt as can be, Claud is not to be trifled with.


Simmons is a versatile American actor who has experience working with Sikora in Banshee and True Detective. Simmons also famously starred in such popular TV shows as Westworld, The Purge, Gotham, Hawaii Five-0, and Law & Order: SVU. Fans can also see Simmons in such movies as Bone Tomahawk, Sound of Violence, and Double Down South.

Shane Harper as Vic Flynn

Shane Harper plays Vic Flynn in the outstanding crime show Power Book: IVForce. Vic is the eldest son of Walter Flynn, who stands to inherit the family drug business. Despite being next in line, Vic resents how Walter has pre-planned Vic’s life for him. When Walter sees how much his father likes Tommy despite their business opposition, Vic vows to take Tommy out before it’s too late. Meanwhile, Vic is also jealous of his much smarter sister, Claud.


Harper is an experienced American actor who began his career as a child actor for the Disney Channel in 2006 and has since accrued a hefty filmography. Notable credits include Good Luck Charlie, Awkward, Just Add Magic, and Hightown. Considering his fate at the end of Force Season 2, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Harper return for Season 3 in 2025.

Anthony Fleming III as JP Gibbs

Portrayed by Anthony Fleming III, John Patrick “JP” Gibbs is Tommy Egan’s older half-brother. The two shared the same mother growing up but went their separate ways as adults. After being estranged for years, JP’s world is upended when he meets Tommy in Chicago, and his wealthy existence as a successful musician is potentially threatened. Once the two reconcile, Tommy and JP form an alliance and work together to take down the Flynns.


With far fewer previous credits than his cast members, Fleming III’s only prior recurring character came in Prison Break between 2005 and 2007. Fleming III can also be spotted in The Beast, Chicago Fire, Divergent, and Other World. Following Force, Fleming will appear in the guerrilla war movie Anita.

Lucien Cambric as Darnell “D-Mac” McDowell

First mentioned in Power Book II: Ghost,Lucien Cambric plays Darnell “D-Mac” McDowell in Force. D-Mac is the son of JP Gibbs and the half-nephew of Tommy Egan, who is looking to make a name for himself. Brash, immature, and impetuous, D-Mac is taken under his uncle Tommy’s wing and becomes more assertive in his business dealings. D-Mac also resents his father for leaving him as a child.

Cambric made his screen debut in a 2017 episode of Shameless before going on to appear in three more Chicago-set TV shows, including The Chi, Chicago P.D., and South Side. Cinematically, fans may recall seeing Cambric in such movies as Captive State (coincidentally also set in Chicago), Holiday Heist, and The Last Shift. Given his outstanding turn in Force, fans can expect to see more of Cambric in the future.

Miriam A. Hyman as Stacy Marks

Miriam A. Hyman plays Stacy Marks, the Assistant District Attorney for the city of Chicago. After playing a guest role in Season 1, Hyman graduated to a series regular in Season 2 when Marks threatened to bring down Tommy and Diamond’s influential drug ring. Marks also begins to investigate Tommy for a string of murders he did not commit in the city, causing a combative relationship between the two.

Hyman is an American actor with plenty of TV experience. Her most prominent credits include The Wire, Blue Bloods, NCIS, and Grey’s Anatomy. However, Marks’s most famous role to date includes playing Dre in The Chi for 32 episodes between 2020 and 2023. As for the big screen, Hyman can be seen in The Laundromat and The Sun is Also a Star.

Guy Van Swearingen as Paulie “Pierogi” Muzaski

Depicted by Guy Van Swearingen, Paulie “Pierogi” Muzaski is Walter Flynn’s ruthless brother-in-law. Paulie serves as Walter’s brutal enforcer and trusty accomplice, tasked with handling his dirty work and eliminating his competitors by any means necessary. By Season 2, Paulie becomes one of the CBI’s main foes, setting up an intense showdown between all the rival gang factions.

A Chicago native as well, Van Swearingen has several crossover credits with the cast of Power Book IV: Force, including Captive State, Detroit 1-8-7, and Chicago Fire. Swearingen’s best movie and TV credits also include Michael Mann’s stellar moviePublic Enemies, as well as Take Shelter, Fargo, The Negotiator, Risky Business, and Mad Dog and Glory. Swearingen can also be seen in the upcoming film Glory Days.
