A former James Bond has given his blessing to Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the next 007, following rumors that the Bullet Train and Kick-Ass star will be the next actor to don the famous tuxedo. In an interview with TMZ, George Lazenby, who played the iconic spy in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, thinks that Taylor-Johnson has the right ingredients to do the role “justice.”

Lazenby gives Taylor-Johnson, saying that the actor can “handle the stunts, and all the ladies who love a man in a tux.” The actor adds that Taylor-Johnson can “do the character justice,” offering his advice should the Marvel star take on the coveted role and saying he must “be true to himself and reinvent the role to fit him.”

While the recent rumor claims that Taylor-Johnson has now been offered the coveted role of James Bond, Lazenby is skeptical, as when he auditioned for the part back in the ‘60s “he went through a bunch of different tests and auditions before he won the role.”

The recent rumors surrounding Taylor-Johnson and Bond come from the British tabloid, The Sun, which claims, “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back. As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Has Now Responded to the Ongoing James Bond Rumors

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has since responded to the ongoing rumors that he will take over from Daniel Craig as the next 007. For now, and not unlike the iconic secret agent himself, the actor is keeping things close to his chest.

“I can only really talk about the things I’m going to show and tell. So, The Fall Guy, Nosferatu, Kraven the Hunter. I don’t feel like I need to have a future drawn out for me. I feel like, whatever’s drawn out for me, I can f**ing do better.”
