Among the nominees for this year’s Emmy Awards were the likes of Brian Cox, Pedro Pascal, Bob Odenkirk, and Jeff Bridges. The hit HBO series Succession saw several of its stars competing against each other for the Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama Series, with Cox up against co-stars Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong.

Created by Jesse Armstong and first airing back in 2018, Succession centers on the Roy family, the all-powerful owners of the global media and entertainment conglomerate, Waystar RoyCo. A fight for control begins when the health of the current family patriarch, Logan Roy, grows increasingly uncertain. The series has been a huge hit for HBO, achieving critical acclaim, awards aplenty including Emmys and Golden Globes, and being lauded by many as one of the best television dramas of all time.

Succession ended with its fourth season last year, with many praising the finale as the perfect ending for what has been a ruthless, dramatic, and often hilarious saga. Pedro Pascal, meanwhile, continues to prove why he is now one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood on both the big and small screen. His performance as Joel in the video game adaptation The Last of Us has been universally praised, with the actor due to reprise the role in the upcoming second season.

Beloved actor Jeff Bridges also finds himself among the nominees for his role as Dan Chase in The Old Man. The FX series sees Bridges join the ever-growing list of aged action heroes as a retired CIA agent who finds himself being hunted by both the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares after living off-the-grid for 30 years.

But ultimately, Kieran Culkin was to win for the final season of Succession. As he jokes at the Golden Globes, “Suck it, Pedro!”
