Blink-182’s Travis Barker Leads 5K Run, Wellness Event Prior to Show

Don’t call it growing up, but Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker is giving fans a unique look at his pre-concert fitness regimen and wellness-focused mindset as his punk band continues its One More Time tour.

Barker took part in Run Travis Run, which kicked off Saturday morning at the parking lot of the Kia Forum in the Los Angeles area and gave fellow cardio enthusiasts the chance to join him in a 5K run. Presented by Mascot Sports and Live Nation, the event also featured fitness classes and mindfulness workshops, along with other activations and food trucks.

Also on hand was Barker’s wife, Kourtney Kardashian, who did not quite keep up with Barker’s athletic pace for the 5K but was accompanied by a couple friends to lend support. Cameras were around to capture the occasion for her family’s Hulu unscripted series, The Kardashians.

Run Travis Run will also take place at Citi Field in Queens on the morning of July 21, with Blink-182 performing at the venue later that evening. The Run Travis Run events support the Boys & Girls Club.

“After my accident in 2008, more than 70 percent of my body was burnt,” Barker said in a statement. “I was told by doctors that I may never be able to walk or drum again, so I set out to prove everybody wrong, including myself. What started with short walks turned into short runs every day.”

He continued, “This past year I ran my first half marathon and participated in a few 5Ks. The running community is massive, and I loved how everyone from all walks of life ran together and supported one another. This is what Run Travis Run was built off of, and we’re only getting started.”

Later on Saturday, Barker joined fellow Blink-182 members Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge for their concert at SoFi Stadium, adjacent to the Forum. According to a representative for the group, the sold-out show welcomed 80,000 guests and marked the most-attended stadium performance to date for the band that is known for such rock hits as “All the Small Things,” “I Miss You” and “One More Time,” with the latter released as a single last year from the group’s album of the same name.

Among the notable attendees at the show were Kardashian, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly. The concert included the band performing a snippet of Taylor Swift‘s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” in the middle of the Blink-182 song “Dammit.” (Footage of that moment can be seen in the above video.)
