Deadpool & Wolverine Earns Coveted Taylor Swift Endorsement

Taylor Swift has given her seal of approval to Deadpool & Wolverine ahead of the film’s release on July 26. Swift, who was at one time rumored to have a cameo in the film, is close friends with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, acting as godmother to their children. In a playful post shared on her Instagram, Swift took a jab at Reynolds, calling him “my godkids’ sperm donor.”

Per Deadline, Swift posted her endorsement to her Instagram stories, where she shared a photo of herself, Lively, Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, praising the efforts of one man in particular. “Over the past few years I have watched one of my best friends on this planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film,” she said, before going on to humorously troll Reynolds, and urging fans to buy their tickets to the latest MCU movie. A follow-up to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 films starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.

One would think that with Swift being close to Reynolds she might have a part somewhere in Deadpool & Wolverine, as the megastar would certainly help draw even more eyeballs to the film than are already on it. Such is not the case, though, as Reynolds himself shot down her rumored roles as both Dazzler and Lady Deadpool last month, saying, “I will say once and for all that the cameo thing with Taylor, because she’s our friend — that is not in this film.”

With early previews revealing Lady Deadpool to be Lively, and Dazzler apparently not making an appearance in the film at all, it seems Reynolds was being honest in his statement that Swift would not be in the movie, and it wasn’t just a deflection to toy with Swifties even further.

That’s okay, though, as Swift is deep into the overseas leg of her Eras Tour and has a lot on her plate right now. That’s not to say that she won’t eventually look to conquer Hollywood the same way she’s conquered the music industry, however, as she’s already signed a deal with Searchlight Pictures to direct her first feature-length film based on a script she’s written.

Taylor Swift is more than ready to step behind the camera for her first feature-length film, and we’ve got the reasons to prove it.

While there’s been little news on the project since then, Swift is already an award-winning director thanks to the 15-minute All Too Well short film she directed, based on the 10-minute version of one of her most popular songs. Starring Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink and The Maze Runner’s Dylan O’Brien, the video earned Swift the award for Best Direction at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, in addition to a slew of other achievements.

For now, Swifties will have to wait a little while longer for their beloved singer to take on Hollywood, but they can rest assured that when she does, she’ll likely find a lot of success, as her loyal fan base will undoubtedly flock to theaters to see whatever her Midas touch brings to fruition.
