Harry Potter HBO Series Gets Succession Alum as Showrunner

The upcoming Harry Potter reboot series from HBO has found its showrunner, tapping Succession alum Francesca Gardiner to lead the franchise. Alongside Gardiner, her fellow Succession producer Mark Mylod has also boarded the Hogwarts Express and will direct multiple episodes of the show, which will adapt the Wizarding World series by author J.K. Rowling.

Gardiner will act as showrunner as well as executive produce the Harry Potter series, while Mylod will both direct and executive produce. The news comes after Warner Bros. Pictures previously stated that they were conducting an “extensive search” for “the person to lead that franchise for us,” per a report by Variety.

Casting is expected to be next on the agenda, with fans of the Harry Potter franchise excited (and nervous) to see who will be chosen to take on such iconic roles and slip into the wizarding robes of Harry, Ron, and Hermoine.
