Hasbro Cooks Up Star Wars, Marvel, and Transformers Merch at SDCC Press Breakfast

It’s that time of year once again as San Diego Comic-Con is officially upon us. All the biggest names in pop culture have descended upon the convention center for a weekend of showcases regarding the future of our favorite franchises and exciting new projects on the horizon. Among those in attendance, as always, is Hasbro, who has brought no shortage of exclusive merchandise for attendees to get their hands on. However, members of the press were also treated to a massive showcase of all the incredible new toys, accessories, and more that will soon hit store shelves as part of the annual SDCC Press Breakfast.

Collider’s Meredith Loftus was on-site at the convention and able to snap a whole host of pictures from the breakfast, showing the future of Hasbro to those at home. Among this massive showcase was a huge collection of figures and other toys from the Star Wars universe and the wider Marvel canon, as well as Hasbro’s own Transformers. These new collectibles represent the toy company’s many different lines, from the Black Series to the Star Wars Vintage Collection, with a range of items both for collectors looking for new pieces to display and kids looking to expand their play. ‘Star Wars’ Black Series Takes Over SDCC

Hasbro’s Star Wars collection spans a whole universe of television and film with a wide variety of collectibles made for fans of just about any property set within a galaxy far far away. Both Ahsoka and The Mandalorian are represented with Vintage Collection figures and sets that throwback to the toys of the 1970s and 80s. The former has a New Republic E-Wing and the KE-4 N4 droid, while the latter features a hallway set from Moff Gideon’s Imperial Light Cruiser with new figures of Din Djarin, Bo-Katan, and the Shriek-Hawk Mandalorians, the latter of which Collider exclusively revealed. Also featured are some deeper-cut Black Series figures that pay homage to the comic Star Wars: The Last Command as well as new Yoda and Clone Commander Gree figures.

Bigger figures from the collection also highlight iconic characters like Darth Maul, who can be seen aboard a Sith Speeder with his lightsaber by his side. For those who want to feel like a villain, a Black Series Moff Gideon Premium Electronic Helmet will put fans behind the visor of Giancarlo Esposito‘s wicked character. Other goodies featured include a Force N’ Tellier Darth Vader that reads out your fortune with Star Wars puns, retro figures bundled together from Episode II and Episode III, and a new set that lets the Mandalorian and Grogu fly together again.

Deadpool Leads Hasbro’s Marvel Collection at SDCC

The biggest collection, by far, belonged to Hasbro’s Marvel toys. With so many popular movies, television series, and comics to pull from, the toy company came prepared with collectibles of all kinds from across the superhero universe. One set celebrates the return of the Merc With a Mouth to theaters with a line of Deadpool toys including a talking Motormouth Deadpool, a Premium Deadpool Head for those 18 and older, and Marvel Legends Deadpool & Wolverine figures keeping the two “best friends” together. That display only scratches the surface of Hasbro’s haul, as another table features a massive lineup of figures set up with everything from Tony Stark in his Hulkbuster suit and Wolverine with his claws out to classic villains like Taskmaster, Venom, and Doctor Doom with some comic-accurate appearances and other fan-favorites like Luke Cage, Ghost Rider, and more.

Also featured is a section for the kids who love Spidey and His Amazing Friends, featuring plenty of Dino-Webs sets and figures, a Dance n’ Crawl Spidey, and standard figures of his friends Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy. Hasbro continues to bring variety with more figures including a giant Haslab figure of Giant Man, a premium collectible and trading card for Death’s Head, an assortment of more obscure comic favorites headlined by the iconic Moon Knight, and a table full of Sentinel figures following the overwhelming success of X-Men ’97. Capping off the collection with them is a towering Marvel Legends Kang the Conqueror figure on his floating throne which pays homage to the almighty villain’s place in comic history.

‘Transformers’ Hasbro Line Builds Nostalgic Hype

Finally, Hasbro couldn’t come to the SDCC Press Breakfast without a few things related to Transformers. As hype is building for the animated Transformers One starring Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry as a young Optimus Prime and Megatron, the toy company is primed with a table full of collectibles branded for the upcoming film. That includes new Power Flip and Robot Battler figures for everyone from main characters Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Elita to other fan-favorite bots that will appear like Wheeljack. It’s not all related to the origin story though, as other sets and toys pay homage to the classic 1984 animated series, Netflix’s Transformers: EarthSpark, and more, as well as portray a crossover with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There’s even a separate LEGO Icons Bumblebee giving some love to the iconic yellow Cybertronian. The Transformers love further spreads to Converse, with shoes themed around the Autobots and Decepticons as they originally appeared in the 80s.
