Now fans are desperate for more from the world of Charlie Morningstar and her weird and wonderful associates, and creator Vivienne Medrano promises that the wait for Season 2 will not be as long as the first took to get off the ground after the pilot. Speaking to Screen Rant, Medrano said:

“Definitely not as long. I’m a big advocate for letting things take the time they need. And production, I mean, I literally actually don’t know the projected release date or aim or anything like that, but roughly season one took about one-and-a-half, two years. So I think it’s probably similar, just because we are in the early stages. However, that’s not nearly as long of a wait, and that’s kind of a normal wait for animation. So it’ll be a normal wait for animation. But I do think it’ll be worth it.”

Erika Henningsen, Stephanie Beatriz, Keith David, and Blake Roman opened up about playing offbeat animated characters making a go of it in Hell.

In an exclusive interview with MovieWeb, Medrano revealed that she would love to take the show to Broadway. Hazbin Hotel, which revolves around the princess of Hell, Charlie Morningstar, began life as a web series and has found new success a series on Prime Video. The series features the voices of several major Broadway stars, including Erika Henningsen as the lead, with Medrano saying she would “absolutely” love to see it make the leap onto stage.

“Oh my gosh, I would literally die if anything I was involved in made it to Broadway or was in a Broadway anything. So yes, absolutely. And it’s fun, it’s been mentioned so many times about what a live-action adaption would be like, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s such a big idea and concept.’ I mean someday it would be incredible, but you know, I have no idea. It really does, every song feels like it could be onstage. The songwriters killed it with that.”

Alongside the idea of bringing Hazbin Hotel to Broadway, we also asked Medrano what it was like to have such big Broadway stars voicing the characters she created. She heaped praise on the ensemble cast, revealing that she was able to cast the exact talent she had in mind for each role.

“Oh my God, well so much of the cast, so many of the people who read for the show, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I know that name! I know all these people!’ And there was so much of that. And then there were also some people that were playing new characters that I was just like, ‘That’s who I have in mind.’ So we offered the role to them and they ended up taking it, and it was so cool. That was just such an amazing experience for me because, you know, it was just so incredible to have these people that I was already familiar with, like a part of my universe, playing these characters that matter so much to me, and I always wanted their voice to sound like them, and it’s real. So yeah, that was an amazing experience for a lot of characters.”

Created by Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano, and starring Erika Henningsen, Stephanie Beatriz, Blake Roman, Amir Talai, Kimiko Glenn, Keith David, Alex Brightman, and more, Hazbin Hotel is now streaming on Prime Video, and has been met with a hugely positive response from critics.
