Lindsay Lohan Felt Like a ‘Little Kid Again’ Returning to Disney Lot for Freaky Friday 2

Lindsay Lohan has something in common with fans waiting for Freaky Friday 2: nostalgia. Lohan described feeling like ‘a little kid again’ when filming the long-awaited sequel, which will see her reunite with Jamie Lee Curtis after two decades.

Lohan spoke with Nightline about returning to film Freaky Friday 2. Having had a career that spans three decades, Lohan has starred in some iconic Disney films, so it’s no surprise that she revealed her nostalgic feelings about returning to the Disney lot to film the Freaky Friday sequel:

“I think really for me was when I went onto the Disney lot. And being back on the Disney lot because that’s not just Freaky Friday for me.

That’s The Parent Trap, that’s Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, that’s Herbie. It’s so many moments for me. So when I got there, I kind of felt like this essence of a little kid again… I’m so grateful for every moment of it. Every second… I’m going to get emotional. It’s a great experience.”

Lohan also discussed working with Curtis again, saying, “Jamie and I have stayed in touch over the years. You know how they say when you have a best friend or someone you’re really close with? If you can not see them for years and years, but when you see them again, it’s like you never separated.”

The Long Road to Freaky Friday 2

Freaky Friday 2 has no set release date, but it’s been 21 years since the 2003 adaptation of Mary Rodger’s 1972 novel. Both Curtis and Lohan have been incredibly vocal about their desire to film a sequel over the years. Some years back, Curtis even mused that she would love to play a ‘hot grandma’ in a Freaky Friday sequel.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reunite on Freaky Friday 2 as filming begins on the sequel 21 years after the first film became a huge hit.

It seems like Curtis may have gotten her wish. Freaky Friday 2 stars Lohan and Curtis as Anna and Tess Coleman, the same mother and daughter duo from the first film. This time around, Anna is a mom herself with a daughter named Harper. Harper, meanwhile, doesn’t see eye-to-eye with Anna’s new stepdaughter, Lily. What happens next should be obvious: the four swap bodies and hijinks ensue as they try to return to their original forms.

Freaky Friday 2 will be directed by Nisha Ganatra and written by Jordan Weiss. Numerous stars from the original are expected to return, including Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, and Julia Butters. New faces are also expected to appear, including The Acolyte‘s Manny Jacinto. While Freaky Friday 2 has no official release date, but will get a theatrical release in 2025, and will subsequently stream on Disney+.
