Mark Zuckerberg Reveals WhatsApp Has Reached 100 Million Active Users in the U.S.

On Thursday, July 25, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that Meta’s instant messaging service WhatsApp has now reached 100 million active users in the United States.

The hugely popular messaging service hit the milestone just over ten years after Meta purchased the app in 2014 for an astonishing $19 billion. It’s the first time WhatsApp has revealed user numbers since Meta acquired the app, which is the most popular messaging service in the world with over two billion registered users worldwide.

WhatsApp is continuing to grow in popularity in the United States, especially thanks to its compatibility with all cell phones regardless of operating system.

To coincide with the milestone, WhatsApp is launching an advertising campaign featuring a 200-foot text bubble between the Apple and Samsung stores at the American Mall in Los Angeles. The campaign highlights the ease of cross-device communication between friends, family, and colleagues.
