Murray recently made his first foray into the MCU, with a fleeting appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, way before that, and even before some of his first movie appearances, the actor played the role of Johnny Storm in a radio production of The Fantastic Four. It is a revelation that has blown the minds of many fans, who had no idea that the production even existed.

Sharing an image of a young Murray in his post, Slott shared a link to a recording of the early breakout of Marvel Comics into other media. He wrote:

If you’ve never heard it before, there was a FANTASTIC FOUR radio show from 1975…and a young BILL MURRAY was the voice of the Human Torch. No. Really. Not kidding.

The voice work of Murray in the near-50-year-old broadcast pre-dates his early movie successes such as Caddyshack, Stripes and Ghostbusters, and it is one that has been lost to the archives for many fans. The note by Slott comes at a time when fans are awaiting Murray’s latest appearance in the role of Peter Venkman, in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and the arrival of a new Fantastic Four team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This time around, the character of Johnny Storm will be played by Stranger Things breakout star Joseph Quinn, who will join Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach in next year’s Marvel movie.

The Fantastic Four
will debut in cinemas on July 25, 2025.
