Música Trailer Teases Rudy Mancuso’s Colorful Rom-Com with Camila Mendes

This exclusive trailer for Música teases Rudy Mancuso’s colorful rom-com with Camila Mendes, which is all set for release on Prime Video in April. Based on writer, director and star Rudy Mancuso, Música is a coming-of-age love story that follows an aspiring creator with synesthesia, who must come to terms with an uncertain future, while navigating the pressures of love, family and his Brazilian culture in Newark, New Jersey.

Música is loosely based on Rudy Mancuso’s own experiences, and stars Mancuso as Rudy, a soon-to-be college graduate and street performer living with his mom (portrayed by his real-life mother, Maria Mancuso) in the Ironbound District of Newark, New Jersey, who experiences synesthesia which manifests as hearing rhythms within quotidian sounds.

Already feeling stuck in life – between his seemingly futile passion for music and performing, the long-term relationship with a girlfriend (Reale) who has very different plans for the future than he does, and his mother who puts pressure on him to find and commit to a Brazilian girl as soon as possible – things become more complicated when he meets the enthralling Isabella (Mendes) at his local fish market.

Directed by Rudy Mancuso and written by Mancuso and Dan Lagana, Música stars Rudy Mancuso (The Flash, Awkward Puppets), Camila Mendes (Riverdale, Do Revenge), J.B. Smoove (Spider-Man: Far from Home, Curb Your Enthusiasm), and Francesca Reale (Do Revenge, Stranger Things), with Maria Mancuso, Gabriela Amerth, and Josanna Vaz.

Rudy Mancuso Makes His Filmmaking Debut With Música

Rudy Mancuso is an internet personality, musician and actor best known for making comedy skits on both YouTube and the now discounted Vine. He will make his movie debut with Música, with the project, which is based on his own experience, being a deeply personal one and allowing him to both tell his story, share his Brazilian culture with the world, and share the screen with his real-life partner, Camila Mendes. With Mancuso and Mendes being a couple in real life as well, this will surely add to their off-the-charts chemistry onscreen.

With Música, Mancuso crafts a colorful, charming, and laugh-out-loud funny love triangle saga informed by a deep appreciation of his Brazilian culture. Also serving as composer and choreographer, Mancuso embellishes his earnest story with a playful score to creatively convey to viewers the cacophony he constantly hears in his head from commonplace objects.
