Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd are starring in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl. The upcoming drama follows a seasoned showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run. As a dancer in her fifties, she struggles with what to do next. As a mother, she strives to repair a strained relationship with her daughter, who often took a backseat to her showgirl family. Anderson, who portrays the film’s titular character, received praise from the film’s director. Coppola told Deadline:

“I’ve always wanted to make a movie in Vegas. I’m so proud of our cast and crew, especially Pamela. I can’t wait to share her daring and heartfelt performance!”

After last year’s Pamela, a Love Story, Anderson has been back in the spotlight. Directed by Ryan White and produced by her son Brandon Lee, the critically acclaimed documentary features commentary and reflections from the former Baywatch actress on her childhood and young adulthood, her career, and her tumultuous marriage to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. The Netflix documentary was nominated for two Emmy Awards: Best Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Best Documentary Music Composition.

The Last Showgirl is written by Kate Gersten with Robert Schwartzman and Natalie Farrey producing. Pinky Promise’s Jesse Burgum and Kara Durrett executive produce. Schwartzman said:

“Dream project, dream cast. We couldn’t be more honored and appreciative of the chance to tell an authentic Las Vegas story that pays homage to the iconic Showgirl, told through Gia’s unique sense of style and visual storytelling.”

Just as news about the film’s all-star cast began to circulate, Coppola shared (via Instagram) that filming had wrapped.
