Shawn Levy Shares Stranger Things BTS Image as Filming On Season 5 Continues

Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy is “back in Hawkins” on the set of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. Levy has served as an executive producer on the hit Netflix series since its first season in 2016 and has also directed the third and fourth episodes of the show’s previous seasons. On Instagram, Levy shared some behind-the-scenes pics that gave fans an always welcome look at the show’s production process. He captioned the carousel, which includes cast members David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Maya Hawke, and Caleb McLaughlin.: “Back in Hawkins, running up that hill again🙃.”

Levy also shared a batch of pictures via X, and although most mirrored his Instagram post, a different picture of Wolfhard, featuring Levy, was included.

The anticipated fifth and final season of Stranger Things is expected to land on Netflix in 2025. But patient Stranger Things fans will still have to wait to learn precisely when. Season 4 concluded in July 2022, and because of the time that has lapsed since the show premiered in 2016, the upcoming season will feature a time jump.

The final chapter of Netflix’s Stranger Things will welcome back Millie Bobby Brown, Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Hawke, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Harbour, Winona Ryder, and Jamie Campbell Bower. Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, and Linda Hamilton have joined the cast for Stranger Things’ concluding season.

High Expectations for Stranger Things Season 5

Netflix

Stranger Things has been lauded by critics and amassed loyal fans, so there are sizable expectations for its final chapter. Levy and series creators Matt and Ross Duffer have made comments that indicate that Stranger Things’ final season could be its best yet. Last year, Levy shared:

“There’s no way to be contiguous with Season 4, and not, frankly, expand scale and depth. It’s major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. ‘Stranger Things 5’ is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see.”

Earlier this year, Matt Duffer said the upcoming season would be “like season one on steroids” before adding:

“It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun, because everyone’s back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting more in line with how it was in season one.”

Stranger Things’ Season 1 is a favorite among critics and viewers, so if Season 5 is able to live up to it (or surpass it), it would make for an incredibly satisfying conclusion after a three-year wait.

Besides helming Deadpool & Wolverine (his highest-grossing film to date with $1.25 billion at the global box office), Levy recently directed Netflix’s All the Light We Cannot See. The historical drama earned the filmmaker a Directors Guild of America nomination for Outstanding Directing – Miniseries or TV Film. Levy will next direct the sci-fi Starman, which follows an alien who goes to Earth and takes on the body of a widow’s husband, and Boy Band, which will reunite him with Ryan Reynolds.
