    Star Wars: The Acolyte
reveals Master Sol’s difficult decision-making struggles.
  • Fan reactions to the episode vary widely, from criticizing the show to praising particular scenes.
  • Jodie Turner-Smith’s performance shines in the episode, but there are mixed reviews of the end-credits pop song.

Episode seven of Star Wars: The Acolyte is in the books, and as expected, the internet has opinions. The episode, titled “Choice,” is another flashback episode, replaying the events of episode three and the fall of the coven of Force Witches. This time, we get some different perspectives to the events, as well as the Wookie lightsaber fight fans have wanted, just not the way they expected. Of course, the best fan opinions of the episode were found on X (formerly Twitter), with hot takes galore on the current state of Star Wars.

The episode featured several revelations, primarily that Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), unable to save both Osha and Mae (Amandla Stenberg), decides to only save Osha, allowing Mae to seemingly fall to her death. Sol also kills Mother Aniseya (Jodie Turner-Smith), in a misguided effort to save Osha. The dark decision has major ramifications for the Jedi, and causes Indara to decide that they will lie about the events, and to Osha herself. We also learn that Indara killed the Sith witches when she broke their link to Kelnacca’s mind.

Here are the best – and worst – reactions to the episode, from both sides of Star Wars fandom. In the interest of fairness, the tweets will alternate between pro and con.

Although the flashback covered some previously-seen events, one of the standout scenes was the reveal that Kelnacca had his mind taken over by the Force witches and attacked his fellow Jedi. The fight sequence earned some praise from fans.

Rotten Tomatoes critic Grace Randolph surprised followers when she left no doubt how she felt about the episode.

Dean-Charles Chapman, who plays Torbin, earned some much-deserved praise for his lightsaber skills.

Star Wars superfan Star Wars Theory was not impressed with the episode. At all.

It was an excellent episode for Jodie Turner-Smith, whose Mother Aniseya delivered a chilling, foreboding line.

The first-ever Star Wars end-credits pop song, by Victoria Monét, did not win over one fan.

Heavy Spoilers, on the other hand, loved the song.
