Stranger Things Season 5 First Look Revealed in Behind-the-Scenes Netflix Geeked Week Teaser

Stranger Things is back for a fifth and final time at Netflix Geeked Week. The show, which first began on the streaming service way back in 2016, has become by far one of the most popular offerings from Netflix, with the end of the show marking the end of an era for the streaming giant. Now, we have our first look behind-the-scenes of the upcoming final outing courtesy of a new teaser, which you can check out below.

Details of what Stranger Things season five will involve remain scarce, but the series is expected to pick up following on from the final moments of season four, which saw the Upside Down emerging into the world of Eleven and the gang. Star David Harbour has since revealed that “things will end in a very real way” when the show does air its final season. Harbour, who has played beloved character Jim Hopper since the beginning, promised fans that the main series will be “one complete story.”

“The beauty of it is there’s a real ending — things will end in a very real way…Netflix is gonna do spin-offs… but the storyline where we started in the lab and Upside Down is one complete story.”

Stranger Things Season 5 will see the large ensemble cast return, including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Matthew Modine and Paul Reiser, with The Terminatorstar Linda Hamilton cast in an undisclosed role.

Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers Takes Center Stage in Stranger Things Season 5

It has also been revealed by co-creator Ross Duffer that the fifth and final season of Stranger Things will heavily involve Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers. Duffer previously offered some insight into what we can expect from Stranger Things season five, revealing that the last hurrah will find Will at its center, bringing the character to the forefront after taking something of a backseat for the majority of the show so far.

“Will really takes center stage again in 5. This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together. Will is used to being the young one, the introverted one, the one that’s being protected. So part of his journey, it’s not just sexuality — it’s Will coming into his own as a young man.”

Will Byers was, of course, central to the mystery in the very first season after going missing in the Upside Down. While the character has since possessed a mysterious link to the alternate world ever since, he has found himself largely on the sidelines. Making Will the central figure of the final season certainly will make sense story wise, but Noah Schnapp has recently been the figure of some controversy following comments about the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, no doubt leaving some fans disappointed and angered that he will play such a crucial role.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, the fifth and final season of
Stranger Things
will begin with the first episode, “
Chapter One: The Crawl
” in 2025.
