No doubt some of this success comes amid the news that the long-awaited sequel, The Accountant 2, is now filming.

Alongside The Accountant, other movies that have reached the heights of the Netflix Top 10 include the drama Mending the Line starring Succession’s Brian Cox, the Lindsay Lohan romantic comedy Irish Wish, the thriller On the Line starring Mel Gibson, the fantasy adventure Damsel led by Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown, and the box office behemoth The Super Mario Bros. The Accountant 2 is now filming and has been developed at Amazon MGM Studios. The sequel will see Affleck reprise the role of the mysterious accountant/assassin Christian Wolff, alongside J.K. Simmons, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and Jon Bernthal as Brax, Christian’s brother.

While plot details remain unknown, Gavin O’Connor has revealed that the plan is for the sequel to center on the relationship between Affleck and Bernthal’s estranged brothers. In the original, Bernthal’s character Braxton is revealed to be the long-lost brother to Affleck’s Christian, with the plan being for him to play a much bigger role in The Accountant 2.


O’Connor has also stated that he already has ideas for a third installment, and The Accountant 2 will be developed with The Accountant 3 in mind.

“Yeah. Yeah. So, I’ve always wanted to do three because what, the second one’s going to be more with — we’re going to integrate his brother into the story. So there’ll be more screen time for Bernthal in the second one. And then the third movie’s going to be, I call it, ‘ Rain Man on steroids.’ The third movie is going to be the two brothers, this odd couple. The third one is going be a buddy picture.”

The Accountant 2
does not yet have a release date but is expected to debut on Prime Video.
