At long last, Polin! Shondaland’s Bridgerton season three has arrived, and all eight episodes are now streaming on Netflix. The first half of the season earned the series its best first-weekend view count when it premiered on May 16, and the final four installments
In the third season of the fictional Regency-era series follows Penelope Featherton (Nicola Coughlan) — who wields the feathered pen behind high society’s most beloved scandal sheet — as she seeks the help of her longtime friend, Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), in finding a husband. Plot twist: It seems romance may be brewing between the two, prompting Lady Whistledown to question, “What is the primary force that guides us along our paths? Is it our minds — or our hearts?”
Created for the small screen by Shondalance producer Shonda Rhimes, Bridgerton is based on author Julia Quinn’s New York Times-bestselling romance novel series. The third season follows a spinoff, Queen Charlotte, that follows a young Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (played by India Amarteifio) who falls in love with her arranged husband, King George (Corey Mylchreest). In the prequel, fans saw young versions of Lady Agatha Danbury (Arsema Thomas) and Brimsley (Sam Clemmett), played by Adjoa Andoh and Hugh Sachs. Vice President Kamala Harris even hosted a private luncheon at her Washington D.C. home for Rhimes, her team and the show’s stars to celebrate the premiere.
