  • The upcoming comedy promises a mix of jokes and music, with an eventful premiere attended by stars.
  • Sandler’s daughters are concerned about his health, urging him to slow down and take care of himself.

Comedy legend and family man Adam Sandler is returning to the stage with a brand-new Netflix special, titled, Adam Sandler: Love You. But he recently disclosed that he does not want his daughters to watch his latest comedy special, citing the frequent and excessive swearing as the primary reason. Sandler’s daughters, Sadie, 18, and Sunny, 15, have grown up in the spotlight, but their father still wants to protect them from inappropriate content.

In an interview with E! News, Sandler explained that he’s used to cursing a lot. The candid admission is testament to the fact that while the star is proud of his comedy, he’s aware that much of his act is simply not suitable for young children.

“I do curse a lot. I apologize to many, many people out there, especially my family. They don’t need to know those words exist. [My daughters] can see a couple parts of. I don’t throw it on for them too quickly. In fact, they’re not coming tonight, they’ll see me at the party after. But I said, ‘You don’t need to see this one.”

Netflix only recently dropped the trailer for Adam Sandler: Love You. Directed by Josh Safdie, it promises to be “a thrillingly unpredictable comedy” that combines jokes and live music. It will feature Sandler’s signature humor as well as some surprising songs. The premiere, held at The Plaza Hotel in New York City, was a star-studded event that Sandler’s wife, Jackie, attended, but his daughters didn’t.

Adam Sandler’s Daughters Urge Him To Prioritize His Health

During the premiere of Adam Sandler: Love You, the Murder Mystery actor also spoke to People about his daughters’ concern for his health. He mentioned that both Sadie and Sunny often urge him to take better care of his health and slow his busy schedule down.

“They always look out for me and my health just like I used to with my dad. You go, ‘Man, I want this guy around,’ so I used to scream at my dad to quit smoking, and my kids scream at me to just calm down and try to eat a little more like a normal person.”

The actor’s struggle with maintaining a healthy lifestyle and eating well has been a recurring theme in conversations and interviews. He’s stated before that his daughters, Sadie in particular, wants him to return to his trainer from 2008’s You Don’t Mess With Zohan. Instead of immediately telling her how difficult it might be, Sandler promised to give it a thought. The actor has also admitted to being unable to take exercising seriously. He said, “I used to take working out so seriously, and now I can’t f—–g do it. I play hoop and then I eat. Every time I’m eating, I’m going, ‘What are you doing, man? You don’t need to do this.’ I can’t stop, just got a little bit of thickness all over.”

Sandler’s family has always been integral to his success. The actor last shared the screen with his entire family in the Netflix comedy, You Are Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, which was praised by critics and fans for its time-relevant humor and tender moments. As Sandler continues to navigate his career and entertain fans with his stand-up routines, it will be even more interesting to see his family join him on screen again.

Adam Sandler: Love You
