ABC’s Will Trent has already become a hit with fans and critics alike heading into its third season, but now it’s getting an added big-name boost that is sure to please viewers of the procedural drama. A new ADA is arriving on the scene, and you might remember her from a little series called Jane the Virgin.




Per Deadline, Gina Rodriguez will be joining Season 3 of Will Trent as Assistant District Attorney Marion Alba. The character is described as both “charismatic” and “confident” and she will be working closely with the titular character, played by Ramón Rodriguez. The pair initially don’t get off on the right foot but will soon find their paths linked when they have to team up to investigate a crime involving gangs in Atlanta. This is intended to be a series regular role for Rodriguez and continues her relationship with ABC following a two-season run on Not Dead Yet, where she also served as an executive producer. She’s also co-hosting the game show Lucky 13 with Shaquille O’Neal.

The series follows Will Trent (Rodriguez) who was abandoned at birth and had to come of age in the Atlanta foster care system. Despite being dyslexic, Will has a reputation for solving a high number of cases in the GBI, and his observant nature makes him one of the best at his job.
