As well as potentially building up a bit of Spider-Man success for Sony ahead of their next SSU movie, the wave of releases will tap into the sense of nostalgia felt by fans on the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. There are many fans who were probably not around to see Maguire swing out as Peter Parker back in 2002, and some who missed Garfield’s two movies a decade ago, and this is the perfect opportunity to remedy that.

What Does the Future Hold for Spider-Man?

When it comes to looking at the future of the Spider-Man franchise, there is always a very cautious sense of enthusiasm for what comes next. As Marvel’s most popular, and most profitable, superhero, we are never too far away from new projects featuring Peter Parker’s adventures.

Following the success of the animated movies Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse, Beyond the Spider-Verse will be the next web-slinging movie coming to cinemas, albeit led by Miles Morales rather than Peter Parker. That movie suffered several delays due to the 2023 strikes in Hollywood, and is currently without a release date.

Tom Holland Responds to Spider-Man 4 Return: ‘I Want to Protect His Legacy’

Tom Holland feels very protective of Spider-Man, and the actor wants to protect the webslinger’s storied history.

Of course, the big question is what will happen to Tom Holland’s iteration of the character following the events of No Way Home. While there is still no official update on Spider-Man 4, rumors have suggested another rift developing between Marvel Studios and Sony over the direction the next MCU installment will take. According to reports, Sony wants another multiverse story and to bring back several past faces to try and capitalize on the success of No Way Home, but Kevin Feige wants to keep things relatively grounded and “street-level.” While this tussle continues, the next MCU Spider-Man movie is always going to be just out of reach for now.

All of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies are available on Disney+, except
Spider-Man: No Way Home,
which is available to rent from usual outlets.
