A major hit last year, the Netflix series Beef begins when a road rage incident between two strangers — a failing contractor and an unfulfilled entrepreneur — sparks a feud that brings out their darkest impulses. Created by Korean director Lee Sung Jin, Beef stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong as Danny Cho and Amy Lau, the two strangers at the center of this comedy-drama saga, with Joseph Lee, Young Mazino, David Choe, and Patti Yasutake featuring in supporting roles.

Consisting of ten episodes, Beef was widely praised by critics and now stands at 98% on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, with the series commended for its compelling tale and devilishly captivating main duo.

Due to the delay to the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards caused by the strike action, many of the limited series up for nomination feel like they’ve been around a while now. Of course, that does not make them any less worthy. The rest of the nominees for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series include the Netflix series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Daisy Jones & the Six from Prime Video, the FX series Fleishman Is in Trouble, and the Star Wars spinoff series Obi-Wan Kenobi, which was released on Disney+ back in May 2022.

A Star Wars project that fans had been calling out for quite some time, Obi-Wan Kenobi finds Ewan McGregor reprising the role of the exiled Jedi Master, and follows the character as he attempts to save a young Princess Leia from the Galactic Empire, while facing another showdown with his former friend and ally, Anakin Skywalker, who has now become Darth Vader.

Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, meanwhile, was another big success for Netflix, with a second season of the anthology series on the way. Titled Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story, it will be based on the murder case of the Menéndez brothers. In the meantime, be sure to check out Beef, one of the most moving and humorous shows in recent memory.
