Meth Gator Crushes Cocaine Bear as Drug-Fueled Beast Is Unleashed in New Trailer

The Cocaine Bear is dead. Long live the Meth Gator. Production company The Asylum, which is known for such cinematic classics as Ape vs. Mecha Ape, Android Cop, Mega Shark Versus Mecha Shark, Avengers Grimm: Time Wars, and, of course, the Sharknado series, is ready to unleash another drug-fueled beast upon the world in the form of the Meth Gator. In what’s sure to be a masterpiece creature feature, Meth Gator promises to bring even more chaos than last year’s Cocaine Bear, from which The Asylum’s latest blockbuster triumph takes inspiration. “Police warn residents to refrain from flushing methamphetamine down the toilet to prevent “meth-gators.” In Sweet Water Point, Florida, they didn’t listen.”

It was not long after the release of Cocaine Bear that The Asylum teased the attack of Meth Gator, with the latest “mockbuster” all set to land in select theaters in the United States. And those lucky theaters are Laemmle Glendale – Glendale, CA, Hickory Ridge Cinemas – Brunswick, OH, Trylon Cinema – Minneapolis, MN, Film Noir Cinema – Brooklyn, NY, and Aurora Cineplex – Roswell, GA.

Not satisfied with merely devouring unsuspecting Floridians, the Meth Gator recently chowed down on both Deadpool and Wolverine while appearing at San Diego Comic-Con. During a panel for the monster movie, the studio unveiled a glorious poster, which finds the Merc With a Mouth and Logan losing to the snappy, drugged-up reptile. But what of Cocaine Bear? Will audiences ever see the booger sugar-loving grizzly on screen again? Well, both director Elizabeth Banks and writer Jimmy Warden have discussed the prospect of a sequel. For Banks, she would love the chance to surprise audiences all over again, saying to Rolling Stone…

“I mean, I had an absolutely great time working on the project. I loved how subversive, crazy, silly, and funny it was. I loved surprising people with the cast. I don’t think anybody was expecting Margo Martindale, who’s 70 years old, to shoot that kid. We had a lot [of] fun, and if I got the opportunity to surprise the audience and delight myself again, I would take it.”

Much like Sharknado before it, this new disaster movie promises to be so bad, it’s purr-fect.

Warden, meanwhile, previously revealed exclusively to MovieWeb that he is far from done with the Cocaine Bear saga, and praised some of the spinoff ideas that he has seen floating around.

“I’m not done with the Cocaine Bear saga yet but, as for spinoffs, I’ve seen some great ideas in the corners of the internet. It feels like we’ll have every animal in existence do cocaine until we come full circle and just make movies about humans doing it again. Then we’ll move on to MDMA and ayahuasca, etc. There’s no limit.”

Directed by Christopher Douglas-Olen Ray, written by Joe Roche & Lauren Pritchard, Meth Gator, and starring Patrick Labyorteaux, Robbie Rist, LaRonn Marzett and Vanessa Tamayo,
Meth Gator
is scheduled to be released in theaters and on VOD on August 2, 2024.
