Netflix’s The Thursday Murder Club Features a Stacked Cast

Films featuring A-list actors tend to do exceptionally well, often in spite of their inferior narrative and storytelling. The Netflix movie Red Notice is a good example of such a scenario, with the overwhelming on-screen presence of Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot leading to the movie becoming a major streaming hit. Similarly, Thursday Murder Club boasts a stacked ensemble of lead actors, which will no doubt assist the adaptation in its success when it lands on the streaming platform. In fact, all four main cast members are well-known to TV and movie enthusiasts, with Brosnan playing James Bond, Imrie appearing in over 180 films and television series, and Helen Mirren and Ben Kingsley winning Academy Awards, and should attract even those who have not heard of the source novel.

The film also stars Tom Ellis, David Tennant, Paul Freeman, Jonathan Pryce, Richard E. Grant, and a number of other notable actors. While the majority of these actors could be playing supporting roles, their presence will nonetheless enhance the film’s allure. Another interesting aspect of the film is that Oscar-nominated Chris Columbus will direct it, having previously worked on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

The film has reportedly been in development since September 2020, when Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment purchased the adaptation rights from Osman, with Columbus serving as director and co-writer alongside Katy Brand, Suzanne Heathcote, Ol Parker, and Adrian Wenner. Thursday Murder Club is produced by Jennifer Todd, while Holly Bario, Jeb Brody, Jo Burn, Eleanor Columbus, and Richard Osman serve as the executive producers.
