Star Wars and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star Oscar Isaacwill voice Jesus Christ in the upcoming animationThe King of Kings, THR has revealed. Coming courtesy of Mofac Animation, The King of Kings will star Isaac as Jesus alongside Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker as the apostle Peter, with the story centering on Charles Dickens, who shares the story of Jesus with his son, Walter.

“Renowned storyteller Charles Dickens finds it challenging to bond with his imaginative son, Walter, amidst his busy career. After Walter disrupts one of Dickens’ readings, Dickens decides to share the story of Jesus Christ with him, hoping to bridge the gap between them. As Dickens narrates the story, Walter becomes captivated, experiencing the events of Jesus’ life vividly Through the journey of Jesus, Walter and Dickens’ ‘relationship deepens, culminating in a bond of love forged through storytelling.”


Isaac and Whitaker join an A-list cast that includes Kenneth Branagh as Charles Dickens, Uma Thurman as Catherine Dickins, and Jojo Rabbit actor Roman Griffin Davis as Walter Dickins.

Directed by Seong-ho “Jay” Jang from a script written by Jang and Rob Edwards (Disney’s The Princess and the Frog), The King of Kings is produced by Anfernee Kim (Last Knights, John Woo’s The Crossing 2), who has praised the cast that has been gathered together.

Oscar Isaac Has Several Major Projects in the Pipeline

Alongside The King of Kings, Oscar Isaac is due to return to the Spider-Verse as the voice of Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099 in the upcoming sequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The actor will also take on the iconic role of Dr. Victor Frankenstein in director Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. He once again features as part of a stellar cast that includes Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, Charles Dance, Ralph Ineson, and Jacob Elordi as The Monster.

After voicing Jesus, Isaac will trifle with Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven, playing Italian poet, philosopher and writer of the Divine Comedy, Dante Alighieri, in In the Hand of Dante, which finds the actor starring alongside Jason Momoa, Gerard Butler, Gal Gadot, Sabrina Impacciatore, Franco Nero, John Malkovich, and Al Pacino.
