UFC Hall of Famer and The Expendables 3 star Ronda Rousey has offered her expert opinion on who would win in a fight between Road House star Jake Gyllenhaal and Warrior and Venom actor Tom Hardy. Speaking to talkSPORT, Rousey revealed who she thought would emerge victorious should the pair of acclaimed actors and action stars ever meet in the cage, with the former fighter throwing her weight behind Tom Hardy.

“I’d have to say Tom Hardy would beat Jake Gyllenhaal.

If someone has never competed before and trained in the gym, compared to someone who has actually competed, I think the one who has competed will win, I believe.”

Both Gyllenhaal and Hardy have become well-known for physically committing themselves to certain roles, with the former having dedicated his time to boxing and fight training for both 2015’s Southpaw and this year’s remake of the cult classic action movie, Road House.

Hardy, meanwhile, added huge bulk to his frame for the comic book outing The Dark Knight Rises, as well as getting fighting fit for the likes of Bronson, and the 2011 mixed martial arts drama Warrior. However, where Hardy takes the edge, according to Rousey, is in his real-life, where the actor has not only taken part in but won several Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions.

Of course, while actors can put on as much Hollywood muscle as they like, there is no substitute for real life experience. And no doubt many will agree with Rousey’s prediction regarding a hypothetical Jake Gyllenhaal versus Tom Hardy throwdown.
