Skeleton Crew’ Trailer Shows Off a Coming of Age Story

The Skeleton Crew is finally coming together. Lucasflim showed off the first trailer for Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew as part of its presentation at D23 Friday, where audiences got a look at the coming-of-age series.

Skeleton Crew centers on a group of kids lost in a galaxy far, far away — as they try to make their way home. The show hails from Jon Watts, who directed Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, and Christopher Ford, Watts’ frequent collaborator. The Mandalorian duo Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni executive produce the show, which stars Jude Law and is set in the New Republic era of the Star Wars canon (or in simpler terms, the years after the Empire’s fall in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.)

A crew of top-flight directors worked on the project, including Everything Everywhere All At Once‘s Daniels and The Green Knight‘s David Lowery. The cast includes young actors Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.

It’s the latest in a string of TV shows Lucasflim has made for Disney+, beginning with The Mandalorian, which helped power the streaming service in its early days five years ago. That was followed by spinoffs including The Book of Boba Fett and Ahoska, as well as series such as the acclaimed Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Lucasfilm is plotting a return to the big screen in 2026 with Grogu and the Mandalorian, the first film since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

Skeleton Crew launches on Dec. 3.
