‘The Boys’ Season 4 Draws Huge Worldwide Audience, Amazon Says


Season four of The Boys is among the biggest series Prime Video has ever offered, at least according to internal viewing figures from the Amazon-owned streamer.

The company says 55 million people worldwide have watched at least part of the season from its June 13 premiere through July 21 (a span of 39 days), three days after the season finale began streaming. That’s a 20 percent increase over viewing of season three in the same time frame — which would put season three at roughly 46 million viewers globally. Prime Video further says the show’s audience has grown for every season since it premiered in 2019.

Amazon also says season for of The Boys is its fourth most-watched TV season ever, behind only the first seasons of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Fallout and season two of Reacher. The Rings of Power streamed in 2022; the other three all debuted in the past eight months.

In the United States, The Boys recorded the two biggest viewing time totals in its history in the two weeks after is season four premiere, according to Nielsen’s streaming ratings — a total of almost 2.5 billion minutes. Nielsen’s streaming ratings lag by several weeks, so full figures for the season aren’t yet available.

Prime Video says that the majority of the audience for The Boys — about 60 percent — comes from outside the United States, citing the U.K., Brazil, India, Germany, Canada, France, Mexico, Spain and Italy among the top-performing territories. The series has ranked No. 1 on Prime Video in 170 countries over the course of season four.
