The Kardashian-Jenners are not holding back in the season five trailer for The Kardashians.

The upcoming season of their Hulu series, which was filmed towards the end of 2023, gives insight into the pregnancy complications Kourtney Kardsahian Barker experienced with her now 6-month-old son Rocky. The cameras appeared to be rolling at the moment where Kourtney shared with her mom Kris Jenner over FaceTime that she had to go in for emergency surgery.

“This is really crazy, so I just want Kourtney to be OK,” says an emotional Kris to the camera.

During her confessional, Kourtney delves into the alarming situation, with cameras capturing her at the hospital. “I had to go in for fetal surgery, which was terrifying,” she explains.

As fans have learned through the trailer, Kourtney was not the only one in the family who experienced a medical scare. “I had my scan…they found a cyst and like a little tumor,” Kris tells her children, as Kylie Jenner breaks down crying.

Besides the updates on the heavier moments in the Kardashian-Jenners’ lives, it wouldn’t be a season of The Kardashians without any drama. This time, Khloé Kardashian is at odds with both Kim and Kourtney.

When Kris asks Kim if she’s talked to Khloé about an undisclosed situation, Kim responds, “No, she’s just very judgmental.” Kim also says that now that Khloé’s ex Tristan Thompson is out of the picture, her sister could “be free to go out and have fun.”

In the trailer, Kim, who recently starred in American Horror Story: Delicate and is reuniting with Ryan Murphy for an upcoming legal drama, also declares she’s in her “actress era.”

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as the trailer’s release coincided with the announcement of Kim’s daughter North West joining the cast of Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event at The Hollywood Bowl, which will air on Disney+. The performances will be held on May 24 and 25.

The 10-year-old will join Nathan Lane, Billy Eichner, Bradley Gibson, Ernie Sabella, Jason Weaver, Jeremy Irons, Jennifer Hudson, Heather Headley and Lebo M. onstage.

Season five of The Kardashians premieres May 23 on Hulu in the U.S, Disney+ internationally and Star+ in Latin America, with new episodes every Thursday.

The logline reads: “Just when you think life can’t get any faster in the Kardashian Jenner family, they punch it into overdrive. From the big screen to baby bliss, the family continues to defy expectations in all their endeavors. Cameras roll as Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie navigate contentious sister dynamics, all under the watchful eye of everyone’s favorite matriarch, Kris.”

Fulwell 73 partner Ben Winston executive produces alongside Emma Conway and Elizabeth Jones, with Danielle King as showrunner and executive producer. Kris, Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall and Kylie are executive producers.
