Netflix has just dropped an exciting update for fans of its live-action series One Piece, revealing a sneak peek of Season 2 as production kicks off. Nearly a year has passed since the series first made waves with its eight-episode pilot season, and excitement has steadily grown.

The recent video posted on YouTube shows the main cast members, Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson, and Taz Skyler, reuniting in South Africa to commence filming. These actors will reprise their roles as the characters Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji, respectively. The upcoming season will see the Straw Hats’ crew grow in number with the introduction of Tony Tony Chopper, the character from the original manga and anime who joins as the crew’s ship doctor.

The series, adapted from Eiichiro Oda’s widely acclaimed manga, is a collaborative creation by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda. Matt Owens returns as showrunner for the new season, partnering with Percy Jackson and the Olympians writer Joe Tracz, who has joined the team. Tracz expressed his admiration for Oda’s work and the series during an interview with Variety, stating,

One Piece Live-Action Season 2 Sets Sail with New Characters

Leading the new cast members is David Dastmalchian, who will portray the crafty Mr. 3.
