Succession star Sarah Snook has been the clear favorite for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for some time, with Snook having been nominated for the award several times during the HBO series’ run. Much like the show and cast as a whole, Snook has been showered with praise and awards for her performance in Succession, winning two Gloden Globes in 2022 and again this year.

The rest of the nominees for this year’s Emmys included Melanie Lynskey for the Showtime series Yellowjackets, Bella Ramsey for the hugely successful video game adaptation The Last of Us, and Elisabeth Moss for her role as June in The Handmaid’s Tale.

Based on the 1985 novel of the same name by author Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale is set in a dystopian future, and centers on a woman who is forced to live as a concubine under a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship. The show has long surpassed the source novel, and is now due to enter its sixth season after Hulu officially confirmed renewal of the show. Lead star Elizabeth Moss has received a lot of acclaim for her performance, winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series back in 2017.

The rest of the nominees for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards also included Sharon Horgan for her role as Eva Garvey in Bad Sisters and Keri Russell for her role in the Netflix series The Diplomat.
