Even through six weeks of night shoots you never slowed down.

TR3N stars Jared Leto in the titular role of Ares. When Rønning’s sci-fi fantasy finally hits theaters in October of 2025, almost 15 years will have passed since Tron: Legacy dropped in cinemas for the 2010 Christmas season. At the time of this writing, there hasn’t been any indication that Garrett Hedlund, Oliva Wilde or Bruce Boxleitner will reprise their roles. However, one integral performer is returning to The Grid.

Jeff Bridges Will ‘Play a Part’ in Tron: Ares

Tron (1982) is one of Jeff Bridges’ best films, and the actor who portrayed the former head of ENCOM and the architect of The Grid, Kevin Flynn, is returning in Tron: Ares. During a recent interview, Bridges confirmed his involvement in the Jared Leto-led TR3N. However, Bridges didn’t specify if he’s returning as Kevin Flynn, or if he’ll also be reprising the role of Clu — perhaps both. The actor said during his appearance on the Film Comment podcast:

I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the Tron story. I’m excited about that […] Leto is the star of this third one. I’m really anxious to work with him. I’ve admired his work.

Coming quickly following the confirmation that Jeff Bridges will return in Tron: Ares, the actor has now been spotted on set.

In a recent interview with Collider, Tron: Ares’ co-star Cameron Monaghan reminisced about the first time he ever saw the original TRON, which turned out to be on an international flight sometime in the 1990s. Monaghan also shared his own excitement about the upcoming film and teased TR3N’s cutting-edge visuals. Monaghan said:

“I think this one, in a very similar way, is going to
really push forward what can be done, from a visual perspective.
I would sometimes even come in on days I wasn’t working, because
that set was really amazing.
A lot of the practical sets were pretty phenomenal, and
I would love to go look at those as well.”

Tron: Ares
opens in theaters on October 10, 2025.
